On July 9 we took off on a fun road trip through Yellowstone National Park to Montana. We spent the evening of the 9th in Jackson, WY and then were off to Yellowstone on Friday where we spent the day. We saw tons of wildlife from buffalo to geese, and elk to a grizzy bear. It was awsome! We also visited the mud pots, the waterfall, and of course, Old Faithful. They boys loved everything about the park and we too shared in their excitement! Friday evening was spent in Helena with Brian's cousin Matt and his fun family. We enjoyed a BBQ at their house. The boys had fun playing with Luke and we loved meeting the newest member of the Strizich family, Drew, what a cutie pie!
On Saturday we were off to Great Falls to pick of Great Grandma and then it was up to the lake for the rest of the week. During our stay on Swan Lake we did two day hikes. One to a beauiful waterfall at Holland Lake and the other with Uncle Jim to the Bond Creek falls. Both were really fun and the boys just loved it! We stumbled across some fresh "scat" on our hike with Uncle Jim so were were especially excited at the possibility of seeing some wildlife. But to our disappointment, never stumbled upon the friend who left his mark on our trail.
The rest of the time was spent at the lake swimming and relaxing, reading and playing cards. It was the perfect little vacation. We loved all the time were were able to spend with Brian's Grandmother. The boys would sit and visit with her each day, they made clay scupltures for her and she patiently sat while we tried to teach them to play cards with us.
The memories of this trip will be forever etched in our minds. It was hard to come home. Something about that magical place - Swan Lake.
