Easter

We had a fun easter weekend.  The boys participated in our annual neighborhood egg hunt.  And let me say our homeowners association really outdid themselves this year.  They moved away from filling the eggs with hard candy such as peppermints, butterscotch, and Werthers Originials (you know the stuff kids really LOVE,) to filling almost every egg with Tootsie Rolls - you know the really hard ones that were probably left over from Halloween.  So glad to know my money is being well spent!  The boys had a blast hunting for the eggs!

We spent Saturday evening coloring eggs:

And Easter Sunday was spent searching for baskets, enjoying the true meaning of Easter at mass and having a fun brunch with Kristi, Mike, Conor, and Lauren.  I had bought the boys each new pants and a "springy" shirt for Mass.  Well, Easter morning Jack comes up all dressed in his First Communion outfit from last year.  We asked him why he didn't want to wear the new clothes and he replied as serious as ever, "Hey.  It's a special occasion.  Jesus has risen from the dead.  I thought I should dress up!"

Fort Making

These guys didn't get out of their P.J.'s ALL DAY!  And their parents weren't much better!  Again, we had a day of a whole lot of nothing.   Brian hurt his back skiing so he read all day. I'm working on putting together our blog book for 2008 and spent the majority of the day on the computer. And the boys -  well - they built forts, played star wars, built lego ships, listend to music, made their own lunch to eat in the forts, and played, played, played!  The older they get the closer they become.   Jack actually thinks Nicholas's ideas are cool now and Nicholas actually listens to Jack when he's trying to teach him something.  Its fun to watch their relationship grow into a strong forever bond.

A day

like no other.  We put away all our Christmas decorations.  The house feels clean, fresh, new. We all feel refreshed for the new year.  The boys had Christmas all over again since they had to leave all their toys the day after for our trip to Arizona.  I orgainzed drawers and baskets - one of my very favorite things to do!  Brian - well I think he was just glad to have his family back!

Soph-a-loaf (her new nickname given by a friend our ours) has found a new place to call her own.  Sophie - don't you know this is Nicky's chair you silly girl.  I suppose he'll just have to share with you now.  You sure are becoming a great companion, finally settling down, becoming less puppy-like and more lazy, just like a Soph-a-loaf!
Mom can we pleeeasssse watch a show in your bed before bed?
Sure thing!  I mean we we are all still on vacation, right?

A New Year

WOW!  2009!
Here begins my second year of blogging! As I sit here looking back on 2008 I am so thankful I created this journal for our family.  I know we will all be able to look back fondly on our simple little life - enjoying the memories.
My blogging goal for '09 ?

Soccer and Track Day

Today was Track Day for Jack at school.  Don't you remember track day?  Brian and I do.  It's one of those special days that you really look forward to as a kid.  It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day. Brian took a half-day off to spend the morning with Jack.  He earned a 3rd place ribbon in the 50M dash and he mastered high jump.  He came home wiped out from the day with a huge smile on his face!

Thought I'd add in few photos of Nicholas playing soccer from last Saturday.  His team - The Thunderbolts -played hard and had a lot of fun.  It's really cool to see this team that's been together since they were 3 years old develop into little soccer players - starting to spread out on the field and even defend the goal occassionally!  Looking forward to another weekend of games come Saturday!
